My gawd, this is so right on. Especially "If I were a climate denier and wanted to harm the movement as much as possible, I’d consider running adds like this to alienate everyday people"

I hope you and Hannah Ritchie are friends.

I, for one, discovered Andy’s newsletter from Hannah’s link to it (https://www.sustainabilitybynumbers.com/p/carbon-footprint-chatgpt)

I think Hannah might be the most important writer today, in terms of making the world better and countering the Cult of Doom that is causing so many people to be depressed.

Andy, can you devote an article to Jevons Paradox? And relate it to your other posts? Would be a valuable addition to your series of writings ...

I'm glad eating less meat is in your list of potential personal cuts to make, but should really be at the top of the list and ideally with a goal of eating no meat, as it has a far greater environmental impact than any of the others in a number of ways and that's not to even mention the suffering of the animals. Being green, eco, environmentally conscious and proactive is often more complicated and interrelated than people realise, so it's not surprising people get confused, most don't have the time to look into it and generally believe things because it suits their life choices. I agree, that kind of marketing could be used to alienate people from being environmentally minded and wouldn't be surprised if it's not already being deployed.

I agree that animal welfare is a gigantic moral problem right now and have written about it here: https://andymasley.substack.com/s/animal-welfareveganism

In general I trust the data we have that while veganism is useful for the environment, there are key ways we can act that save way way way more emissions. Most of what we should be doing imo is greening the grid rather than worrying too much about our individual lifestyles, I wrote about that more here: https://andymasley.substack.com/i/163062666/kate-bob-and-freddy

My internet time is damaging the climate? Oh no!

I was going to play some online games to pass the time.

But instead I'll drive my truck to a comic book store and play games there. Got to consider the environment.
